In yet another incident of the deteriorating law and order situation in Khordha district, a businessman was shot at and looted of Rs 70,000 by masked miscreants at Baghamari Bazaar road under the Baghamari police station late on Thursday night. Sources said the victim, Manoranjan Samantaray, was returning home after closing his grocery shop when four masked miscreants chased him and fired at him at Baghamari Bazaar road. As a bullet hit him, he fell down from his motorcycle.Taking advantage of it, the robbers snatched a bag containing the money and sped away from the spot. Later, getting information police rushed to the spot and shifted Samantray to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
However, as his condition worsened he was referred to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Further investigations are ongoing to identify and nab the criminals involved in the robbery, said police.
