The body of a woman missing for a week was found hanging from a tree on a hill area, half a kilometer away from the village. The matter is of Parsapani village of Siyari Panchayat under Gomia police station here on Thursday.
According to the information received, Muniya Devi (25), wife of Mohan Besra, was missing since the evening of 23 December. They got married 7 years ago and were childless. Sources said that her husband Mohan Besra used to go to Ranchi Road to work. She lived alone at home.
On leaving her house in the evening on December 23, the people around thought that she must have gone to fetch wood. When Mohan returned late in the evening, he did not see his wife in the house.
He started searching, but could not find her. Mohan made a written complaint about his disappearance at the Gomia police station the next day. On December 30, some people of the village went to Kapasa hill, a goat herder.
The shepherds, seeing the body of a woman hanging from a tree on the hill, gave Mohan Besra along with Gomia chief Gulab Hansda.
Hansda hurriedly informed the Gomia police about the matter. On receiving the news, the police reached the spot and brought down the body from the tree. After an identification, the body was sent to Tenughat Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem.
Gomia police station in-charge Ashish Khakha said that the police is investigating the matter at every point.
