The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Chhattisgarh came out in support of the Chhattisgarh Sahkari Samiti Karmachari Sangh which has been on strike since July 24 in Raipur. BJP state coordinator of the Cooperative Cell Shashikant Dwivedi told reporters that due to the strike by the cooperative society employees, societies are shut and farmers are forced to sell paddy to private buyers.If the demands of the strikers are not met by the government, the BJP will hold protests after five days, he said.The employees are on strike seeking, among others, return of additional expenditure to the committee due to delays in transporting paddy, benefit of the 7th Pay Commission and regular payment of salary.
