Universities in the State have started the admission process with many varsities even releasing the cut-off marks for admission while some universities have decided to carry out the admission of students through the Chancellor’s portal.
Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University (DSPMU), has released the cut-off marks for various subjects in undergraduate for academic 2021-24. This year the cut-off marks for Hindi and English Honors in Arts has gone up to 92 per cent in the merit category, whereas in the faculty of Science, the cut-off of Mathematics and Chemistry is 90 per cent.
At the same time, the cut off for History, Geography, Physics, Zoology, Botany is yet to be released. For subjects such as Anthropology, Bengali, Ho, Khadia, Kurmali, Mundari, Oriya, Panch Pargania, Philosophy, Psychology, Sanskrit, Santali, Urdu, Electronics, Environmental Science, Film Making, Journalism and Mass Communication, Music, Nano Science and Nanotechnology, Visual students who applied in Arts and Yogic Science are included in the selection list. The admission on the first cut off marks will be taken till August 28, after this, in case the seats remain vacant, the second list will be released on August 31.
A teacher who is looking after the admission process at DSPMU said, “This year the cut-off marks is more in several subjects due to students scoring high marks in State board and CBSE examination.”
The teacher’s observation assumes importance as this year admission of students at different colleges will be tough as compared to previous years as this year the cut off marks will be higher. This year a record number of students have cleared matriculation and intermediate examinations. This year JAC intermediate results are the best in the past one decade. In science, the overall pass percentage stood at 86.89, Commerce recorded 90.33, while Arts logged 90.71. The overall pass percentages of 2021 in all three disciplines were the highest since 2010.
While DSPMU has released the merit list, many universities including Ranchi University, admission at graduate level courses will be carried out from the Chancellor’s portal. Ranchi University has announced the dates for enrolling for regular courses at the undergraduate level through the Chancellor’s Portal. The students can apply for enrollment for the regular course from August 14 to August 30.
Apart from this, the university has also announced the merit list and document verification dates. The merit list in the university will be prepared between August 31 to September 5, while document verification will be done from September 6 to 14. There are 55,000 seats at undergraduate level in 32 colleges in Ranchi University.
