As many as 63,303 primary teachers of the State will be promoted as the State Government on Friday reduced the residency period (RP) on the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Reduction in residency period will also help fill up vacant posts of teachers and headmasters at the upper primary level. The Chief Minister hoped that promotion of teachers would improve management and educational system in the primary schools. He also sought cooperation from all concerned for the Government’s efforts towards quality education. Total 29,759 assistant teachers, who are currently at 5 (A) level, would be promoted to 5 (B) level. Similarly, 29, 759 senior teachers, currently at 5 (B) Level, would be promoted to level-4 and 3785 headmasters in level-4 will be promoted to level-3 by September 2021, informed a communique issued by the Chief Minister’s Office. Besides, the residency period for assistant teachers was reduced to six months from the existing one year while period for promotion to level 3 from level 4 was reduced to one year from existing two years.
