‘Ranchi to become model city for other towns in State’

nInspecting the Smart City project in Ranchi on Saturday, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra said the Command Control and Communication Centre in the Smart City campus will function as the brain and nervous system of the city for management of traffic and law and order situation.

“The Smart City being developed in Ranchi will not only change the lifestyle of the people of Ranchi but also become a model city for other towns in Jharkhand,” said Mishra.

The Secretary on Saturday inspected the Command Control and Communication Centre here, he saw a 3D model of the Smart City and also inspected the Bicycle Sharing System in the State capital.

CEO of Smart City, Amit Kumar provided him with many important information related to the project. Ranchi Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar shared how the services being provided by the municipality are being regularly monitored from the Command Control and Communication Centre.

“This centre is the brain and nervous system of the entire city. You should try to benefit the citizens as much as possible. Along with this, the children of school and college should also be shown the center and informed about the infrastructure that has been developed in their city,” said Mishra.

The Smart City in Ranchi is being developed on 656 acres of land. It will use the latest technologies in road, street lights, drainage, sewerage, utility duct, cycle lanes, sidewalk construction etc.

Mishra toured the entire campus and gave many necessary suggestions. The Union Secretary said that after the construction of this city, there will be a big change in the lifestyle of the people of Ranchi. Ranchi, he said, will become model cities for other cities of the State. He also planted saplings on the Smart City campus.

Earlier in the morning, Mishra sought information about the Public Bicycle Sharing System operated by Smart City at Morhabadi Ground in the morning and cycled with the Municipal Commissioner and Smart City CEO. He took detailed information about bicycle service and expressed great pleasure over its functioning.

During the visit, along with the Union Secretary, Municipal Commissioner of Ranchi Mukesh Kumar, Suda Director cum CEO Ranchi Smart City Amit Kumar, Director of Urban Administration Directorate Vijaya Jadhav, PDT of JUDCO Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Shankar Yadav, GM Smart City Rakesh Kumar Nandakolyar, Project Director L&T Jildar Tripathi, Smart City Piro Amit Kumar, Project Manager Honivel Automation Ltd Sharat Kumar along with several officials from DMA, Municipal Corporation and Smart City, JUDCO and L&T were present.
