It is necessary for everyone to exercise daily and also reduce intake of salt and fat in food, Raipur District Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Meera Baghel said on Wednesday.
She said several events and awareness camps related to heart diseases were held in Raipur district as part of the World Heart Day, an official statement said. At health camps, patients were given diagnostic facilities to undergo different tests.
A person should include fresh fruits and vegetables in life, lead a stress-free life and manage stress through yoga and meditation. Smoking should be given up and enough sleep is a must for a healthy body and heart, she added.
Dr Baghel said 28.1 percent of Indians die due to heart disease. Consumption of tobacco, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity promote heart diseases. Controlling these factors can prevent 80 percent of heart disease deaths.
