Terming the call for ‘Ashirvad Yatra’ as a pseudo political event, Samajwadi Party has said that the party stands for social unity.
After the Bharatiya Janata Party's proposed ‘Ashirwad Yatras', it is now time for the Samajwadi Party's ‘Cycle Yatras’ in Uttar Pradesh.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said here on Friday that the ‘Ashirvad Yatra’ was manifestation of the unease and panic felt by the ruling party after its debacle in UP panchayat elections.
“The BJP is preoccupied in snooping on its political rivals, journalists and others and they have no time to pay attention to people’s welfare and development works,” Yadav said.
Akhilesh Yadav has directed his party workers across the state to take out “Cycle Yatras’ on August 5 to mark the birth anniversary of socialist leader Janeshwar Mishra.
Mishra, incidentally, was the Brahmin face of the party and the event will turn the spotlight on the Samajwadi Party’s efforts to woo Brahmins.
Akhilesh Yadav also cautioned his party leaders of the BJP's conspiracy to defame and malign Samajwadi Party leadership through a social media campaign orchestrated by the saffron brigade. He asked his cadre to beware of such designs.
"The BJP excels in rumour mongering to spread falsehoods and is now making a strategy to plant its cadres, posing as Samajwadi Party supporters, and post material on social media that may eventually show our party and leaders in poor light. We have to be alert against such designs," Akhilesh Yadav told party leaders in an informal interaction.
The SP has also issued a circular to all district units and party office-bearers to be on guard and responsible while interacting on different platforms of social media.
