The CBI has booked a Director (Telecom), Research Design and Standards Organisation under the Railways Ministry and his wife on the allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.
The accused officer Navneet Kumar Varma, Director (Telecom), RDSO, Lucknow and his wife Gunja Verma, have been named as accused in the case.
The agency on Friday conducted searches at four locations including at Lucknow, Jaunpur and Mau (Uttar Pradesh) at the office and residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of several incriminating documents, the CBI said.
The accused officer, an officer of IRSSE:2006 Batch), after promotion to the post of Senior Divisional Signal and Telecom Engineer (Senior DSTE), had served at Eastern Railway, Malda Town (West Bengal) during the period 2015 to 2016.
Thereafter, he joined as Joint Director (S&T), Urban Transport & High Speed, RDSO, Lucknow, where he remained posted from 2017 to August, 2018.
He is alleged to have acquired assets worth Rs 76,45,092 which were disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017.
The accused also allegedly acquired immovable and movable assets, amounting to Rs 81,42,360 in his and his wife's name.
