To further contain the spread of coronavirus the Union Territory Administration in Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday enforced 84 hour long ‘Corona Curfew’ across 11 districts including twin capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar. Similar restrictions will be imposed across left out nine districts from Friday evening till early Monday morning.
Meanwhile, 26 patients succumbed to the deadly virus across J&K while 3,474 new patients tested positive taking the tally of active positive cases to 26144.
According to the media bulletin released by the Department of Information and Public relations, “out of 87 Covid ICU beds available in Government Medical College hospital in Jammu only 11 were left vacant while only 66 isolation beds were left vacant in the GMC due to increasing rush of patients”.
Situation was no different in Srinagar. Only 1 covid ICU bed was left vacant in SMHS hospital,Srinagar, one in SKIMS Soura and COVID ICU inside Chest and Disease hospital was packed to its full capacity.
According to the media bulletin, out of 3474 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), 1024 tested positive across Jammu division and 2450 from Kashmir division, Also 26 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 17 from Jammu Division and 09 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 1617 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 710 from Jammu Division and 907 from Kashmir Division. Srinagar district Thursday reported the highest tally of 1017 fresh cases while Jammu district reported 489 cases. Total active positive cases in Srinagar stood at 7952 and 5922 in Jammu.
