Driving around Delhi in the mellow autumn sunshine is a pleasure
As the temperature starts to dip and there is a definite nip in the air, the sunroof on the Hyundai Venue Sport makes immense sense. The low, golden late-October light in Delhi streaming in through the sunroof makes family drives across the greenery of Delhi a pleasure. The car is certainly an eyecatcher even in Delhi’s prime spots, the red accents across the exterior make the Sport version of the Venue stand out from the ordinary in the crown. On the inside, the same red garnish elements on the air-conditioning louvres give that little extra touch that make the interiors seem special on even the standard daily commute.
But where the Venue Sport really stands out is thanks to Hyundai’s continued commitment to the diesel engine while meeting the stringent new Bharat Stage 6 emission norms, proving that diesel still has the power to excite. The 1.5v litre U2 CRDi engine produces 100PS of power yet meeting the BS6 norms that demanded 80 per cent less particulate emissions, 70 per cent lower NOx emissions and 75 per cent less sulphur emissions than BS4 vehicles. Many manufacturers were unable to meet these stringent norms but Hyundai ensured the Venue did. The ‘Sport’ moniker on the Venue is not just a marketing term, the punchy engine powers the car forward to highway cruising speeds rapidly, almost always has power on tap for overtaking and is a real delight to drive. Yet, with careful driving, the diesel engine can deliver incredible real-world efficiency. We found over 17 kilometers per litre in efficiency. At a time when fuel costs are taking a big bite of your wallet, the Venue Sport offers a blend, which might seem contradictory to some, frugal enjoyment!
On the beautiful greenery of the capital, the Venue Sport was a joy to drive. The combination of looks, power and fuel economy make it a combination that will please every buyers’ heart and make the competition wary. If you are looking for a compact hatchback that offers just about everything, don’t look any further.
