The Ranchi Municipal Corporation will accept applications for obtaining birth and death certificates. The Civic Body at the same time will also issue birth and death certificates online. The Civic body is going to start the process once the lockdown is over.
The move will provide relief to thousands of applicants who queue up at civic body head office near Kutchery Chowk to submit applications for the certificates. “We are trying to open the online application process for birth and death certificates. Once the application is accepted, after completion of all the formalities applicants can download their birth and death certificate from the RMC portal,” said Ranchi Municipal Corporation Assistant Medical Officer, Kiran Kumari.
The RMC medical officer claimed that the Civic body had started the formalities for issuance of online birth and death certificate in the month of February and the Civic Body had also written a letter to Urban Development and Housing Department but before the process could start lockdown started. Kiran Kumari said that the process will commence once the lockdown is over.
The issuance of online death and birth certificate will be great help for those who are settled outside state and don’t have time to come down to Ranchi for getting birth and death certificate.
The death and birth certificate will have digital signature and it will be accepted at all government works.
Sources said that for issuance of death and birth certificate the applicant has to make application within 21 days after the birth or death of person. After making the application along with all records and documents, the RMC will scrutiny the application and will issue the certificates.
The RMC which is presently issuing birth and death certificates in offline mode and it will continue as usual.
Sources that the main aim of new system is check the influence of touts indulging in business of making fake death and birth certificates.
As the birth and death certificates will be issued online the role of touts will be checked. Recently, cautioning the residents of the capital against fake birth certificates being issued by touts, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) had asked people to get birth and death certificates verified through its official website.
As RMC is the only authorised agency to issue birth and death certificates if the event had occurred within its jurisdiction.
Each certificate has a specific registration number. The number appearing on the hard copy of the birth certificate, in possession of the holder, should match with that shown on our website. This is the only way to check if the certificate is genuine.
