The Raipur Railway Division has set a national record by running three loaded goods trains (Triple long haul-Super Anaconda) linked together for the longest distance -- from Chhattisgarh to Odisha, a distance of 325 km.
Raipur Division Railway Manager Shyam Sunder Gupta said the triple long-haul goods trains empty rakes had been successfully operated by Indian Railways. Similarly, loaded triple long-haul have been also operated.
These triple long hauls have been prepared at Bhilai. Generally, the speed of such trains has been 20 km per hour. This has now been raised to 80 km per hour.
“But for the first time such a triple long-haul train has been sent from one state to another, covering 325 km," said Gupta.
"The single goods train had more than 4,000 tonnes of clinker, 2,800 tonnes of cement and 2,800 tonnes of food grains. The speed of the train was maintained at 50 km per hour. The speed was monitored by speed guns to ensure safety,” he said.
Raipur Railway Division's officiating Senior Division Operations Manager (Coordination) Dr Prakash Chandra Tripathi said the division has earlier operated a loaded goods train covering 130 km with running time of 2 hours and 45 minutes with average speed of 47 km per hour.
Similarly, the Division, which comes under South East Central Railway (SECR), had operated empty rakes. This is the first time the Super Anaconda has run 325 km, he said.
