After Agra’s Mayor Naveen Jain appealed to the state government to save the city from turning into Wuhan in the coronavirus pandemic, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed concern over the situation in the Taj City.
In a tweet on Sunday, Priyanka said that the Uttar Pradesh government should take the letter of Agra Mayor Naveen Jain in a positive way and take steps on the suggestions given by him.
“The situation in Agra is bad and every day the number of COVID-19 patients is increasing as claimed by the mayor. Jain has said that there is no management and coordination amongst the administrative offices leading to the situation going out of hand. I have been raising the issue of increasing number of tests and proper treatment of the patients. Now the suggestion given by the Agra mayor should be dealt with in full seriousness,” Priyanka tweeted on Sunday.
Earlier, Agra Mayor Naveen Jain had shot off a letter to Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, alleging that the district authorities were doing nothing to contain coronavirus and apprehended that the Taj City could turn into a Wuhan, where the coronavirus originated and then spread all over the world.
The total number of coronavirus positive cases in Agra is 371, the highest in Uttar Pradesh, with six deaths so far.
