A private hospital in Berhampur city, which was under the scanner over the recent death of a woman patient due to medical negligence, was on Friday sealed by the district administration.
The Gurudev Hospital was sealed in the presence of the Sub-Collector. Earlier, after the woman’s death officials had raided the hospital.
The woman patient, identified as Aiswarya Singh Deo (24), was admitted to the hospital on February 17 after she complained of stomach ache. She was later diagnosed with appendicitis. Doctors at the hospital then carried out an operation but the woman died.
Kin of the deceased alleged that administration of high doses of anesthesia to the woman led to her death. Relatives of the woman and locals had staged protest demanding cancellation of the hospital’s licence.
