In the hour of national lock down, NTPC power engineers are performing their duties to provide uninterrupted power service even as the temperature rises, so that people can stay at home in comfort.
Apart from power generation, the Sipat power unit has donated Rs 25 lakh as financial assistance to the Bilaspur district administration for purchasing of masks, sanitizers and healthcare equipment to fight against Covid-19 pandemic in the state, a release by the power generator said.
This apart, Rs 2 lakh have been provided to the CEO, Janpad Panchayat, Masturi for procurement of soap and other items for sanitizing the villages in and around the Sipat project, it said.
In addition, soap worth Rs 2 lakh will be distributed among the villagers to maintain personal hygiene as a preventive measure against the coronavirus outbreak.
As a noble gesture by the women's welfare wing of NTPC-Sipat—Sangwari Mahila Samiti—has donated Rs 50000 to district red cross society, Bilaspur, the release said and added that the NTPC Limited is contributing Rs 250 crore and one day’s salary of its employees, amounting to Rs 7.5 crore, and a total Rs 257.5 crore to PM-CARES fund.
In addition, Rs 11 crore has been spent or committed by the projects across the country to fight against the coronavirus outbreak, it said.
Prior to this, the Sipat station took numerous steps for prevention of Covid-19 inside the plant and township premises.
Restrictions have been imposed for outsiders coming inside plant and township, employees who are on duty are allowed to join office and others are requested to stay at home.
Thermal scanning at township and plant gates is done regularly among other preventive measures been taken to combat the spread of the virulent disease, the release said.
