Now, Robot ‘Bharti’ assists doctors, Covid patients

A robot, ‘Bharti’, was launched by Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey here on Sunday to assist doctors as well as Covid-19 patients admitted in hospitals.

“This invention is definitely going to be revolutionary and beneficial in this Covid period and it will be of great assistance to doctors,” the Governor said at its online launch, an official press release said.

The Governor congratulated and appreciated young scientist Aditya from ‘SPAR VY Research Initiative’ and the Director of VY Hospital, Dr Purnendu Saxena.

The Governor interacted with patients through the robot. She told them to be positive.

“Amid the pandemic, I felt like making a device that could help both doctors and patients. So accordingly, SPAR VY Research Initiative undertook the project,” said Dr Saxena.

The team that created ‘Bharti’ was led by a young engineer from BIT Raipur, Aditya. The robot, built in 45 days, can be operated from any smart phone and any doctor or nurse or family member can interact with the patients, the press release said.

The robot can carry medicines and food to the patients. Also, it is fitted with ultraviolet rays that can disinfect any area, the press release added.
