No Bali Yatra in Cuttack this year

Saturday, 31 October 2020 | PNS | CUTTACK

The world-famous annual historic maritime festival Bali Yatra would not be held in Cuttack this year, informed district Collector Bhabani Shankar Chaini on Friday.

The decision was taken in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, he said.

“It is not possible to conduct the Bali Yatra, in which traders from various parts across the country participate, this year keeping in view the current health crisis,” said he.

Besides, restrictions would also be imposed on celebration of the Boita Bandana,  a mass commemoration of the maritime glory of the people of the State, on the occasion of Kartika Purnima, the Collector further informed.

It is also not possible to conduct the annual Bada Osa at the Dhabaleswar Temple near Athagarh of the district, Chaini added.
