Continuing its drive against the drug nexus in Chhattisgarh, police in Raipur on Friday arrested a 38-year-old Nigerian from Mumbai and brought him here on charges of supplying cocaine and psychoactive drug MDMA to peddlers in Chhattisgarh.
Patrick U.B.K. Bavko (38), a Nigeria-based national and the main drug supplier, has been taken into custody, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav told The Pioneer.
Police recovered two mobile phones from him.
Raipur Police have so far arrested 15 drug dealers involved in illegal drug peddling in October and September, Yadav said.
These local drug peddlers had named Mumbai-based Raiden Baithelo, who was recently arrested, Yadav added.
Raiden told the police that he purchased MDMA from Patrick, also a Nigerian.
Patrick has been arrested for alleged involvement in supplying cocaine and MDMA to Raipur, Bilaspur and Durg districts in Chhattisgarh, the officer said.
Patrick reportedly told the police that he purchased MDMA from another Nigerian, Chisom Patrick. He is being questioned to know about the involvement of others in the drug trade.
