Total 12 Tablighi Jamaat members who had reached various districts of Madhya Pradesh including ten Bangladeshi nationals and three locals have been sent to jail in Sheopur district.
These Jamaat members were sent to jail on Tuesday, Sheopur Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay said.
The group included 10 Bangladesh nationals, three from Sheopur and two from Kolkata were earlier quarantined and some who had reported corona infection now have tested negative,” said Upadhyay. Three locals among 15 are accused of sheltering the Jamaat members. Those jailed include six women.
Overall 22 Jammat members were recovered from village Bagvaj in Sheopur on April 2 after the police had raided he village following Nizamuddin Markaz incident. A case was lodged against all the 22 and ten more could be jailed shortly, the police said.
This is second such legal action against TJ members. Earlier in Bhopal on April 10, as many as 64 TJ members of foreign origin, ten of their local aides and 13 others who were in their touch, were booked by five different police stations under IPC sections 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant), 269 and 270 (negligent act likely to spread of disease dangerous to life), besides Sections 13 and 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946 and Section 51 of the National Disaster Management Act 2005.
They shall be arrested after physicians would ensure that they won’t be threat to anyone in jail premises, the police had said.
As many as 20 TJ members had tested positive in Bhopal and 140 others were quarantined at city outskirts.
Like many parts of the state, other districts in MP too have reported positive cases among Jamaa members.
On Tuesday, Health minister Narottam Mishra categorically had claimed that out of 123 cases of infections in Ujjain, 103 were affiliated to Tablighi Jamaat and only 20 locals contracted infection there. The Jamaat members also have reported infection in other districts including Umaria, Agar Malwa, Khandwa, Khargone, Vidisha, Dewas, Raisen and Mhow (Indore).
