JBVNL promises uninterrupted power supply

Monday, 16 November 2020 | PNS | Ranchi

Residents of Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Jamshedpur can hope to get uninterrupted power supply during the festive season ahead as Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam (JBVNL) has made special arrangements to avoid any outages.

JBVNL has around 4.5 million consumers out of which residential consumers are 91 per cent.

On an average Ranchi requires around 230-260MW and the demand is set to increase during festivals. Similarly, Dhanbad requires 300MW on a daily basis. Jamshedpur has total power consumption around 120 MG.

In order to maintain smooth supply JBVNL has started electrician-on-call service for quick action.

“JBVNL has made elaborate arrangements to ensure quick service and uninterrupted power supply during the festival. JBVNL has set-up control room to monitor the situation round the clock. All power substations have been given trolly transformers so that in case of technical problem in transformer power supply is not disrupted,” said executive engineer of JBVNL of Kokar area Sambhu Nath Choudhary.

Ranchi division of JBVNL has also circulated a mobile number 9431135682 for consumers to lodge their complaint and to electrician-on-call service.

The power company has also publicized the contact number of department officials of different circles.

“In the last two weeks we had carried an intensive drive to ascertain faults and necessary steps were taken. Linemen who are actually the backbone of our service have been briefed and trained to cope-up with the situation.  Senior officials will constantly monitor power supply and in case of a breakdown linemen will have to seek permission from the concerned official to get shut-down from sub-station. And once the fault is corrected, concerned officials will order restoration of power only after verifying that linemen have done their job,” said an official of JBVNL.

No lineman will be allowed to work without safety gears to avoid accidents.
