Amidst the ongoing lockdown, State Government has decided to provide education in government schools through cable television.

Giridih has set an example in educating government school students through cable television and Government has decided to soon replicated in the entire state.

State education minister Jagarnath Mahto, who visited Jamshedpur to review the online education system being imparted through Whatsapp groups among students of government school children, said that the education department has received complaints that a large number of students are unable to access the digital content shared by the department of school education due to  non availability of smartphones and thus the government is trying to spread the idea of using cable television as a medium of teaching during the lockdown.

"I am visiting every district to know the ground reality. Giridih has set an example and started the system and now we are working on the plans to use cable network. We are also in talks with Doordarshan and DTH operators like Tata Sky. The best option shall be used to impart education to children," said Mahto while addressing the media at the Circuit House.

In Giridih, local MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu tied up with the local cable network and decided to impart classes through cable television. Interestingly, the MLA has also requested private school teachers to take video lessons and about 60 teachers have been imparted training in this regard. The lessons for various classes will continue till July this year.

According to information teachers have been complaining that digital learning in government schools is posing a hurdle due to lack of smartphones and those who have usually face network problems in remote areas.

" We want to ensure that the students are not deprived of classes during the lockdown. Although Giridih has successfully launched it, we are also exploring other platforms. We shall do the best for our children.

After the lockdown we shall also increase the number of school hours and will curb holidays too to complete the syllabus," said Mahto.
