nThe South Eastern Central Railway (SECR) on Thursday carried out a successful trial run of a locomotive engine from Keoti to Antagarh at an average speed of 50 km per hour.
The locomotive travelled on a newly laid railway line, a statement from SECR said.
The 17-km journey to Antagarh has increased the possibility of running railway trains from Dalli-Rajhara to Antagarh, the communiqué said. Presently, passenger trains run only up to Keoti.
The distance between Dalli-Rajhara and Keoti is 42 km. The SECR has laid railway line up to 59 km on the Dalli Rajhara-Antagarh rail route.
Indian Railways, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and the Chhattisgarh government are jointly facilitating the laying of 235 km of railway line under the Dalli-Rajhara-Rowghat-Jagdalpur project.
In the first phase, a new railway line of 95 km from Dalli-Rajhara to Rowghat will be laid.
