Doc put in quarantine on locals’ demand’

Thursday, 30 April 2020 | PNS | UMARKOTE

Denizens of Umarkote Ward-10 objected to the return of a doctor who reportedly came from Khordha district, which has been categorised as a Covid-19 hotspot, after remaining on leave for 20 days to rejoin in his duty at the Pujariguda CHC under the Umarkote police limits.

The doctor arrived here on Tuesday evening by his car to his rented house at Swain Colony in Ward-10. Soon after knowing about his arrival, locals rushed to his residence and urged him to stay in 14 days’ quarantine.

Later, a team of police officials along with Umarkote Municipality Execute Officer Upendra Dip came to the spot and asked the doctor to stay in home quarantine for 14 days. However, his neighbours didn’t allow him to stay in the house. Finding no option left, the doctor was taken to a Government quarantine centre here.
