Even as devotees and Habishyalis are restricted to enter into the Jagannath Temple for darshan of the deities in the month of Kartik this year due to Covid-19, they can avail Mahaprasad in the holy month.
Mahasuara Nijog Secretary Krushna Chandra Pratihary on Friday said the Mahaprasad would be available in a systematic process during the month. A shed facility to avail Mahaprasad is being made at the temple’s Uttar Dwar (north gate) and Dakshina Dwar (south gate).
“Two counters will be opened by the Mahasuara Nijog. The devotees can buy Mahaprasad after getting tokens for it in a queue,” he said.
The decision to make Mahaprasad available was taken at the Chhatisa Nijog meeting on Thursday when the Nijog members had suggested making sheds and a counter facility for availability of the Mahaprasad. The district administration is making arrangements for building sheds at the two gates of the temple, Pratihary said.
Each shed would have 50 feet length and 50 feet width. It would consist of five rows. The devotees can place orders for the Mahaprasad and receive it standing in a queue after getting tokens from the counter.
“Six servitors (three each) will be assigned to stay at both Uttar and Dakshina Dwars.
They will bring Mahaprasad from the Ananda Bazar as per order,” Pratihary said, adding that the Nijog would soon release two numbers, through which the orders for Mahaprasad can be placed.
