The deadly virus seems to be on a free run in Indore as seven new cases were tested positive in wee hours on Monday.
Besides, an Ujjain native who had died three days ago at Madhavnagar hospital Ujjain has now tested positive. With these fresh cases, the total tally of the corona positive cases has risen to 47 in the state. Of these, 27 patients hail to Indore while five are Ujjain natives.
Two other positive patients, one each from Indore and Ujjain, have died days ago.
However, alarmed with the intimidating rise of corona cases in the Madhya Pradesh commercial capital Indore, the district administration resorted to absolute lockdown in the city since Monday closing down all markets of essentials, petrol pumps and milk parlours.
Besides, those engaged in emergency services, no one is allowed to step out of home and those found in breach of preventive orders would be kept in makeshift jails, Indore collector Manish Singh had ordered on Sunday.
Initially the administration had announced that even milk won’t be distributed in the city as part of efforts to break the corona virus chain but soon after locals offered a stiff resistance reminding administration that as per norms, supply of milk canot be stopped. Under pressure, the district administration announced that milk distribution would be allowed for two hours in the evening but with all the safety measures as prescribed by the health administration in the past.
Among others, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath too had flayed the milk ban claiming it falls under essential commodities along with medicines and called the decision highly objectionable.
Hot spots of COVID19 in the city, Khajrana and Ranipura areas were sealed by the administration overnight and sources claimed that police picked up 55 suspects from these areas and kept them in isolation in the night. Around 100 persons were quarantined in Chandan Nagar area.
The police also have restricted the movement of locals in the wake of preventive orders barring those engaged in emergency services, said DIG Harinarayanchari Mishra.
We have booked a patient who had ran away from hospital a day ago under sections – 188, 269 and 270 of IPC.
The 42-year-old positive patient had fled the hospital and was later apprehended by police from Khajrana area.
The district administration has also decided to categorise hospital in various categories and mostly locals would be allowed in green category hospitals where corona patients would not be allowed.
Yellow category hospitals would be reserved for those with corona symptoms and positive patients would be kept in MY Hospital and TB Hospital.
