nChhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday urged Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to announce three new National Highways (NH) in the state.
Baghel met Gadkari in Nagpur while returning to Raipur from Delhi. He extended Diwali greetings to the Minister and held discussions on different aspects of road related issues of Chhattisgarh.
Baghel thanked Gadkari for asphalting of the Bhopalpatnam-Taarlaguda route, construction of a flyover at Tatibandh Square in Raipur and upgrading the Patrapali-Katghora route.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought to sanction the `11,024.39 crore proposal of widening, upgrading and reconstructing the National Highway in the state.
Under the Bharatmala Scheme, the Raipur-Durg bypass road issue was raised. Baghel said the land acquisition amount has not been paid to the landowners, leading to resentment. He called for release of the compensation amount for land acquisition to the landowners at the earliest.
Highlighting the condition of Champa-Korba road, Baghel said the National Highway links the industrial town Korba and a road construction agency should be appointed to commence construction work.
Besides release of the periodical renewal allocation of `50 crore for 2020-21, restarting the Raogarj-Saraiplai NH work and expediting the Raipur-Dhamtari NH work was also sought.
The Chief Minister wanted three routes to be made National Highway: Raigarh-Gharghoda-Dharamjaigarh-Pathalgaon route, Ambikapur-Wadrafnagar-Bahmni-Renukut-Banaras and Pandariya-Bajaagh-Gadasari route.
