Continuing the ‘Cycles4Change’ campaign, aimed at promoting cycling in the city, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) together with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) organised an event in which nearly 100 cab drivers took the pledge to respect cyclists on the city roads.
After the 'Cycles4Change' campaign was launched on October 9, the city is witnessing a series of activities on popularising cycling among all age groups and all walks of life.
On Friday, cab drivers from taxi aggregator Ola took the “Safe Cycling Pledge’’ near the Smart Park in Saheed Nagar.
They pledged to ensure the safety and well-being of every cyclist, make roads safer and to encourage everyone to take up cycling for their day-to-day activities.The event was coordinated by General Manager (Administration) of Smart City Kamaljit Das.
The participants adhered to the Covid-19 protocol of physical distancing.Bhubaneswar among 95 cities is taking part in the “India Cycles4change’’Challenge, which will run in two stages.
In October, 11 cities will be shortlisted and will receive Rs 1 crore award and guidance from national and international experts to further scale up the initiatives in stage two, which will be held until May 2021. During the flagship event of cyclothonan official website www.cyclegiribbsr.com was also launched, through which cyclists and public can get complete information about upcoming events and can give their suggestions and feedbacks.
