Roads are the basis of a strong infrastructure and a solid foundation for a state's development. In the past two years, roads have been built at a rapid pace in Chhattisgarh, making the lives of people smooth and barrier free.
The progress in construction of roads has further strengthened road connectivity and also eased in the facilitation of traffic to the villages, an official statement said on Friday.
A total of 4,050 projects of road and bridge construction as well as repair and restoration work have been approved with a budget provision of Rs 13,230 crores.
Additionally, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched the Mukhyamantri Sugam Sadak Scheme on June 19 to connect all inaccessible government buildings, Haat Bazaars, fair sites, school and colleges, Anganwadis, hospitals and crop storage centres via pucca road to the nearest main road.
To employ the unemployed youth, the government has implemented a scheme to register under the e-category. Additionally, work is in progress to implement the Dharsa Development Scheme by the Public Works Department.
Within the scheme, the raw paths (dharsas) of villages will be strengthened so that people and their cattle can move freely, all around the year, with no fear of weather or monsoons.
In 2019-20 and 2020-21, the Public Works Department of the Chhattisgarh government sanctioned Rs 13,230 crores.
Of this, Rs 2,648 crores have been approved for 839 projects in 2019-20 and Rs 1,930 crores for 274 projects in 2020-21.
Public Works Department Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said the Chhattisgarh government is committed to building quality roads and bridges for smooth flow of traffic. With this aim, new roads and bridges are being constructed at a rapid pace.
