The controversy within the Congress over the election of Zila Panchayat president of Baloda-Bazar has refused to die down with MLA Shakuntala Sahu and Chandradev Rai for the second consecutive day on Saturday reached the party headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan and took up the matter with senior party leaders seeking action against former MLA and his son.

As per party sources, Congress official candidate for Baloda Bazar Zila Panchayat was Sheikh Alimuddin but Rakesh Verma, son of former MLA Janakram Verma, had filed the nomination papers and got elected as Zila Panchayat chairman. This led to verbal duel among party workers with Congress MLAs Shakuntala Sahu (Kasdol) and Chandradev Rai (Bhilaigarh) took serious exception to the development. It is reported that before the election a meeting was called to decide the candidate but things went wrong within the party.

Both MLAs arrived at Raipur on Saturday again at party headquarters to register their grievances with Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) president Mohan Markam. They demanded action against former MLA Janakram Verma and his son.

Interacting with media, CPCC president said interaction with both parties will be done. Already talks with MLA is over and report from the party election observer has been sought. Whoever will be found involved in wrong doing, action will be initiated. The CPCC president said let Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel return from his foreign tour, a solution to the the issue will be found.
