Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Thursday directed the Crime Branch to probe into the death of social worker and motivational speaker Aditya Dash, whose body had been found on the railway tracks near the Temple Road station on July 7.
The case was being investigated by the Government Railway Police (GRP). Following the DGP’s directive, a team of Crime Branch officials met the GRP authorities to obtain the necessary information.
Police have also recovered CCTV footage from the Aditya’s house and the railway station in course of the investigation.
Aditya’s postmortem report revealed that he died because of grievous injuries on the head. But the social activist’s relatives and friends have alleged foul play in his death as he was reportedly receiving threat calls for staging an agitation against the liquor mafia.
A hand-written letter in Odia was also found with messages for his family, friends and those associated with the old age home run by him.
The letter was examined by the handwriting bureau of State Forensic Science Laboratory(SFL) here and found to have been written by him,
Already, his friends, family members and wife have been questioned by the GRP authorities.
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also sought an Action Taken Report (ATR) from the Commissionerate police over the death of Aditya within four weeks.
