Actress Prakruti Mishra, who fell a victim to cyber bullying after posting a brand endorsement photograph recently, has lodged a complaint with the Mancheswar police against web portal ‘New Odiya One’ alleging harassment and defamation.
The National Film Award winner stated that with an intention to malign her, the web channel created unethical stories further leading to disrespectful comments about her family.
“This sort of deliberate and intentional insult against me and my family is going to have an adverse effect on my career. We are receiving phone calls and being harassed by people,” she stated in the FIR.
Prakruti, who was recently seen in MTV reality show ‘Ace of Space 2’ and played lead role in Hindi daily soap ‘Bitti Business Wali’, further contended, “Being a professional actor, endorsement and collaboration with brand is part of my work portfolio. It is unlawful on the part of the local news portal to circulate wrongful and misleading information about me or my family.”
The actress urged police to take appropriate steps for investigation under IT Act/Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the owner and other erring staffs of the channel.
