A 72-year-old man who suffered from multiple health complications died on Tuesday in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and the hospital authorities after making contact tracing have asked those persons including the doctor and paramedics who came in contact with him to go on home quarantine.
In fact, his swab test report received soon after death confirmed he was corona positive.
The deceased from Hinjala area was admitted in the DHH on May 21 following urinary tract infections. During admission in the DHH, his swab was collected and sent for test. While his condition deteriorated he was referred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for better treatment .
During hospitalisation, his blood sample was sent to Mumbai suspecting a case of blood cancer. After three days, he was sent back to home. However, on Monday when he became serious he was again admitted in the DHH.
During treatment he succumbed to the ailments on Tuesday.
After his death when his swab test report was received by the officials here, it confirmed that he was corona positive.
This report created a ruckus among the staffers of the hospital who were involved in the treating the patient.
District Project Manager Anil Mohanty besides confirming that his report was positive, also said the cremation for the body was conducted as the protocol given by the Health department.
Sub-Collector Nilu Mohapatra said, "The case can't definitely be concluded as corona virus death, but the virus could be another factor as he was suffering from other complications. Since the report came after his death, the cremation of body was conducted as per prescribed guidelines."
