Taking the number of coronavirus cases to 54 in the Gurugram district, three nurses were tested positive for the deadliest disease on Wednesday. The two nurses are working in civil hospital sector-10 and one in Medanta hospital.
Of the 54 cases, 38 patients have been discharged after recovery. Their tests turned out to be negative and 16 are under medical care. Gurugram has already been declared as a red zone which has 25 containment areas.
Sources claimed that the nurses caught the infection during treatment of Covid-19 patients. They have since been admitted in isolation wards of the hospitals where they are employed. Their family members have been asked to home-quarantine.
"Two nurses are residents of Om Nagar and Sector-9 and One of Islampur village. Om nagar, where one corona patients were found. The area was already declared a containment zone. Om Nagar is now totally sealed with barricades and deployment of an additional police force,” said Dr Jaswant Singh Punia, chief medical officer (CMO), Gurugram.
On April 26, four nurses of Medanta hospital were tested positive of Covid-19. They were admitted to an isolation ward in the hospital, said the health authorities, adding that they are undergoing treatment.
At present, 14 cases the largest number in the Gurugram district have been recorded in Sohna so far. Till date, the district has sent 5,392 samples, of which the results of 290 samples are awaited. The district has 96 people who are under surveillance at quarantine centres. I appealed to the residents to follow the rules during the lockdown and not to leave their houses unnecessarily. People must not come on the streets unless it is very important and try to work from home,” the CMO said.
