Another 10 Covid-19 patients died in the State on Thursday, increasing the death toll to 169. Out of the new deceased, four were from hotspot Ganjam district, two from Khordha (Bhubaneswar) and one each from Nayagarh, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.
The Ganjam deceased were a 43-year-old man, a 47-year-old man, a 33-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman.
The deceased of Bhubaneswar were a 60-year-old man, who was also suffering from chronic kidney disease and diabetes, and a 60-year-old woman, who was also suffering from diabetes.
The other deceased included a 67-year old man of Sambalpur district, who was also suffering from hypertension; a 65-year-old man of Nayagarh, who was also suffering from chronic kidney disease with uremic encephalopathy; a 71-year old man of Sundargarh, who was also suffering from diabetes; and a 50 year-old man of Rayagada, who was also suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.
While Ganjam district has so far reported the highest 90 deaths, Khordha is second with 21, followed by Cuttack with 11 and Gajapati nine.
And on Thursday, 1,203 new positive cases were registered in the State, taking the total to 30,378. While 758 cases were detected from quarantine centres, 445 were local contacts.
Ganjam district reported the highest 250 cases followed by Khordha 220, Cuttack 97, Sundargarh 74, Gajapati 72, Koraput 66, Malkangiri 65, Bhadrak 53, Jajpur 46, Rayagada 45, Sambalpur 40, Baleswar 20, Mayurbhanj 16, Angul: 15, Kandhamal and Kendrapada 14 each, Keonjhar 11, Bargarh 12, Puri nine, Deogarh and Jagatsinghpur eight each, Balangir six, Nabarangpur, Subarnapur and Kalahandi four each and Dhenkanal three.
However, another 807 patients recovered on the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 19,745.
The highest 431 recovered in Ganjam district followed by 62 in Cuttack, 47 in Rayagada, 34 in Gajapati, 29 in Sundargarh, 24 in Sundargarh, 23 in Nayagarh, 21 in Jajpur, 19 in Kandhamal, 14 each in Baleswar, Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj, 13 in Bhadrak, 12 in Khordha, 11in Bargarh, 10 in Malkangiri, seven each in Balangir and Sambalpur, six in Jharsuguda, four in Dhenkanal, three in Angul and one each in Koraput and Puri.
