With Covid positive cases rising in the State in general and Ganjam district in particular, BJP State vice-president Bhrugu Baxipatra on Thursday demanded that the State Government rise above politics and seek the Centre’s help to fight the coronavirus efficiently.
“There was lack of coordination among district administration officials when migrant workers returned home in Ganjam district. The Chief Minister also didn’t look into it directly. A few officers have been inefficiently managing Covid since then. As a result, cases are rising uncontrollably and people dying every day,” alleged Baxipatra.
Substantiating his allegation of Covid mismanagement, Baxipatra cited some examples of problems in cremation of dead bodies, deaths of some people due to mismanagement of ambulances and the recent incident of not informing about death of a Covid patient to his family members for four days.
“Spread of virus has been controlled in Delhi and Maharashtra to a big extent after they sought help from Home Minister Amit Shah. The Odisha Government should now seek Centre’s help in managing the pandemic,” he demanded.
