Marwahi has been Chhattisgarh's fort and a ‘Karma Bhoomi’ for many greats. It has many tourist places which will be part of its integrated development involving both its MLA and MP, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel declared on Friday.
He was addressing a public rally at Basti Baghra for the November 3 Marwahi by-election. The Congress veteran also held a road show from Daanikundi to Marwahi.
Attacking the BJP and former Chief Minister Raman Singh, Baghel said for the last 15 years Marwahi was kept away from development. Now BJP leaders including Raman Singh are visiting the area on a regular basis, he said.
The people of Marwahi will not fall in their trap, he added, pointing out that only a Congress government can bring development to the region.
Bhanwar Singh Porte was a renowned leader who had a special affinity towards Basti Baghra and he passed away here, the Chief Minister said.
The dreams of the late Porte will be fulfilled, said Baghel. After the election, he will visit the constituency again to find a solution to the problems faced by the people.
Bhanwar Lal Porte’s daughter Archana Porte also addressed the gathering and recalled the contributions of her father.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Mohan Markam said the Congress has promised that using fake caste certificates no one will be allowed to get a job or become a public representative. No one can take away the rights of Scheduled Tribes.
