Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik on Thursday urged the State Government to extend the last date for submission of crop insurance instalment money till August 15.
“Farmers have been passing through difficulties due to the Covid crisis. It is unfortunate that the Government has set July 31 as the last date for payment of crop insurance money. Farmers should be given 15 days’ more as most of them have not yet received cost of paddy they had sold to the Government between January and March,” said Patnaik.
He too demanded that the Government take immediate steps for payment of paddy cost to the farmers at the earliest. He too suggested to the Government to deposit the insurance cost from the State exchequer as the farmers have been affected due to lockdowns and shutdowns imposed frequently.
