‘juhi knows her craft well’

As a part of the content extravaganza that Zee TV plans to offer its viewers in the festive month of October, the channel presented a heart-warming story that captures the essence of the ever-evolving dynamics of the saas-bahu relationship in Indian society. A relationship, often portrayed as typically at loggerheads, political and manipulative especially on Indian television, will now make way for an equation that is based on trust, hope, a friendship that has the two going out on a limb for each other in Zee TV's new show Hamariwali Good News. In fact, the show presents a most unique role reversal between the daughter-in-law Navya (Srishti Jain) and her mother-in-law Renuka (Juhi Parmar) to give their family the much awaited ‘Good News.'

Versatile actress Juhi Parmar plays the role of Renuka in the show, who is the mother-in-law and the lifeline of the Tiwari family. She is a strong-headed and God-fearing person who is also an active member of a kirtan mandli consisting of the neighbourhood women. Shakti Anand, on the other hand, is seen essaying the pivotal character of Mukund, who is Renuka's husband and Navya's father-in-law. A grocery shop owner, known for being a miser, he follows the motto of, ‘Jaisa chal raha hai badiya hai, what is the need for change?'

Both these powerhouse performers are well established household names, however, even after 20 years in the entertainment industry, this is the first show they're doing together. Yes, Juhi and Shakti have been a part of several top shows over two decades, but they've never shared a frame until now. And looks like they are quite ecstatic of teaming up with each other for the very first time. In fact, they are bonding quite well on the set too.

Talking about their first show together, Shakti Anand revealed, “Hamariwali Good News is my first show with Juhi and the experience has been great till now. She is a well-trained, seasoned and phenomenal actress and what should I say about her. She knows her lines, she knows exactly where to stand, how to take cues and how to improvise, so she is fantastic and knows her craft well. She has been in the industry for two decades now, so she knows when to do what and how to make a scene better. It's been great shooting with her, and we've bonded quite well.” Juhi also added, “Shakti is a great actor and it has been great shooting with him for the show.”

While Shakti Anand and Juhi Parmar bond on the sets of Hamariwali Good News, Mukund and Renuka's arguments continue on the show.

Dare to dream with sony sab

It’s often said if you can dream it, you can do it. Dreams and ambitions play a crucial role in our lives but the key difference in its success and failure is often described by the attempts one makes to fulfil it.

Dreams have no control, it knows no boundaries and it knows limits. Then why do we often define our dreams by the gender of the person?

Taking this thought forward and inspired by actual events, Sony SAB will bring the touching story of two sisters from Rohtak, Kaatelal & Sons, starting from November 16, 2020. The show features veteran actor Ashok Lokhande alongside the chirpy duo of Megha Chakraborty and Jiya Shankar.

Kaatelal & Sons is a true testament to Sony SAB's philosophy to produce positive and progressive stories and inspire the audience with compelling content that touches people hearts.

The show is an inspirational journey of sisters, Garima (Megha Chakraborty) and Susheela (Jiya Shankar), who believe ‘Dreams know No Gender.' As the show progresses, the audience will get a more in-depth insight into what it actually means, but let's hear it from Megha and Sushila herself.

Megha Chakraborty sharing her thoughts on the concept of the show said: “The concept of the show weaves in a beautiful thought that dreams know no gender. Kaatelal & Sons brings a light-hearted story blended with humour to inspire the dreamer in you. Garima and Susheela while coming from a small town in Haryana will bring about a question, if our pursuits and dreams in life should ever be restricted by gender? Like for example, a woman can be an ace barber, while a man can don the chef’s hat and prepare a lavish meal for the entire household. This show inspires this thought to look beyond the pre-conceived notions that we have. Even for me this show has been an eye opener on many levels and I am so glad to be portraying the role of Garima and living her life. If even one person gains the courage to pursue their dreams through Kaatelal & Sons, it will mean a lot to me. As they say, we can't change our past, or predict our future. But we can shape our present.”

Jiya Shankar further added: “The show has a beautiful underlying message which my character Susheela rightly says ‘sapno ka koi gender nahi hota’. I have stepped entirely out of my comfort zone with this role and what I simply love about Susheela is the fact that she is courageous and challenges the set notions in the society. She isn’t a girl who fits into the set stereotypes. She weight lifts and undergoes training for boxing. The prospect of having an opportunity to inspire our women as Susheela was something I want to give my 100 per cent to. The concept of the show is also something I truly believe in — which is un-gendering your dreams. Dreams do not have any gender and this show will bring this belief alive.”
