Coronavirus has so far claimed the lives of at least 26 police constables and officers in Maharashtra and left 2,355 other personnel infected in various other parts of the State.
Giving details of fatalities and infections among the state police personnel, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted on Saturday: “2,355 police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19. Of these 999 have recovered & 26 have tragically succumbed”.
“There's been a steady rise in the number of #Covid_19 calls on the police helpline 100. As many as 96,875 such calls have been received. 255 instances of assaults on policemen have seen 833 arrests, Deshmukh tweeted.
“1,323 offences have been registered for illegal transport,” he tweeted.
“5,71,434 people have been quarantined & 706 were found violating the quarantine The state govt is running 832 relief camps where 38,437 migrant labourers have been given refuge with food & necessities,” the Home Minister tweeted.
“As many as 1,19,222 offences have been regd. u/s 188 of IPC since the lockdown leading to 23,533 arrests and seizure of 76,189 vehicles. Rs 5,91,74,271 has been collected in fines from offenders,” the Minister added.
