The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday recorded 177 fresh positive cases, taking the total tally of coronavirus cases to 2,341.
Out of these 177 cases, 125 cases were reported from Kashmir division while 52 cases tested positive across Jammu division.
A total number of 33 cases were also discharged from different hospitals in the region on Saturday.
According to the media bulletin, “Baramulla district recorded highest number of 40 positive cases followed by Srinagar where 26 cases were detected. 19 cases were reported from Anantnag, 16 from Shopian and 10 from central Kashmir district of Budgam”.
According to official sources, majority of patients who tested positive were not returnees.
In Jammu division, Ramban and Udhampur districts reported 14 and 13 cases respectively while Samba district reported 7 and Rajouri 6 cases. Jammu district reported only 2 cases on Saturday. According to the media bulletin, “ out of 2,341 cases, the total number of active cases stood at 1,405. Out of these 1405, 36 cases are active positive in Jammu division while 1,037 cases are active positive across Kashmir division.
In Jammu, large number of drivers of SRTC buses, ferrying stranded passengers from different destinations to their quarantine centres alleged that they have not being paid their monthly salaries for last three months and despite this they are discharging their duties.
Several drivers, while blaming the concerned agencies for ignoring their plight also claimed that none of the drivers have undergone screening despite ferrying several positive cases to different locations in the recent days.
