Setting in motion an integrity tableau for public awareness on corruption-free society marked the beginning of Vigilance Awareness Week at the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Monday.
MCL CMD BN Shukla unfurled the Vigilance Flag at the corporate office and administered “integrity pledge for citizens” to the employees. He referred to Vedas and Upanishads, saying, “Honesty has remained the lifestyle of people in India. It has remained there in the fundamentals of life which a person in tender age used to learn from the parents.”
“Where there is honesty, there is justice; and without honesty, there can’t be fairness in administering justice,” he said.
With a green signal from the CMD, an integrity tableau on “Integrity -- A Way of Life” was set in motion to visit the peripheral villages and markets to spread the message on a corruption-free society during the week-long observance.
Director (Finance/I-c Personnel) KR Vasudevan was prominent among the senior officers and staffs present at the inaugural ceremony.
A series of events on this year’s VAW theme have been organised for employees and schoolchildren. The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Deputy General Manager (Vigilance) Sudhakar Sahay.
Similar programmes are being organised in the coalfields of the company spread over in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Angul districts.
