The work on building smart roads under the Smart City project will begin with sewer works on EC Road, Rajpur Road, Chakrata Road and Haridwar Road.
The works will be undertaken in a phased manner to prevent major disruption of traffic.
The sewer work will be started on EC Road from Behel Chowk to Nany Banker intersection in the left lane from Tuesday. This lane will be closed to the traffic for the duration of the work. As required, only two-wheelers may be allowed on the affected lane of this road while the traffic on the opposite lane will continue as usual.
The traffic on this route will be affected for a period of 10 days. It is pertinent to mention here that a Rs 1461 crore project proposed by Dehradun Smart City Limited was recently included in the smart road and public transport project.
According to official sources, the total cost of the smart roads will be Rs 1,368 crore while 100 electric buses will be operated at a cost of Rs 123 crore under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) mode.
