A welcome ceremony was held at Sohela for Sushant Singh after he was inducted as Cabinet Minister of Odisha, on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by former Minister Prakash Chandra Debta.
Singh is a three -time MLA from here and got two terms as Cabinet Minister in Naveen Patnaik’s Government. The people of Bhatli constituency are excited and observed the occasion by blasting crackers and taking out rallies.
He belongs to a poor family at Bausenmora village under Sohela Block limits in Bargarh district. From his childhood, Singh has accepted social service as prime goal of life.
In the year 2009, he got a ticket from BJD in Bhatli Assembly constituency and defeated Prakash Chandra Debta of Congress candidate by a margin of 4,981 votes.
In 2014 election, he also got ticket from BJD and defeated his rival Independent candidate Sushanta Mishra by a margin of 37,605 votes. He was made the Labour and Energy, ESI Minister in Naveen Government. Recently, in the year 2019, he defeated BJP candidate Irasis Acharya by a margin of 23,332 votes.
This time, he got the important portfolio (RD & Labour and ESI) in the Cabinet. Members from different associations of Sohela such as the Durga Puja Committee, the Taxi Owners’ Association, the Chetana Pariwar, the District Athletic Association, the Jeevan Jyoti Organization, his native villagers and other dignitaries joined the felicitation ceremony.
In the recent election, he also took charge of seven Assembly constituencies of western Odisha for the victory of the BJD candidates such as his own constituency of Bhatli Bijepur, Padampur, Titilagarh, Patnagarh, Kuchinda and so on. And he has proved his organisational skill.
