Silver theft in Ganjam : 1 held; 6.7 kg recovered

Police on Saturday arrested a person in connection with the loot of silver ornaments weighing eight kilogram from a man near Kokolunda village under the Bhanjanagar police station on September 14.

The accused was identified as A Sekhar (29), a native of Baragaon village under the Aska police station. Police recovered silver ornaments weighing 6.7 kilogram from his possession. The cops have also seized cash of Rs 49,000 and the motorcycle used in the crime.

Police said two accused were involved in the loot from the victim Laxam Das of Udhuravillage. “Sekhar is also involved in similar crimes in Rambha and Chhatrapur. We are also trying to nab the second accused involved in the crime,” said police.
