Irked over slow pace of ongoing construction of Kantatoli flyover, newly elected Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth on Monday directed the officials and engineers to gear up and complete the construction work of flyover within the set deadline. The 1,250-metre Kantatoli flyover project from YMCA to Kokar on Old HB Road got off the ground last year. Earlier, the project was to commence on 2017, but due to technical issues the project was delayed by one year.
Seth, after becoming Member of Parliament (MP) has been visiting various areas inspecting the various ongoing infrastructure works in State Capital. Prior to his visit to Kantatoli for inspection of project, he had visited Piska More where construction work of highway from Panda to Piska More is going on. Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Juidco) is the nodal agency for implementing the project whose tender was bagged by Modi Construction Company. The flyover, being built on 3.9 acres of the private land and .12 acres of Government land is supposed to be completed by the mid of 2020.
Seth during his visit at the construction site went through the details about the project and factors behind the delay in the project. The Ranchi MP directed the officials and technicians to short out all the bottlenecks so that construction can be completed within time frame.
Juidco General Manager (Public Works) Ashok Kumar said, “The main bottle neck was related to construction of diversions on both sides of the flyover which has been shorted out. The pilling work of flyover is going on war footing pace.” The diversion of flyover through Kokar stretch is almost completed, while the construction of diversions on Bahubazar will be completed within two three months.
Ashok Kumar further said, “Once the pilling work of flyover is completed, the next phase will be construction of structure which will not take much time.”
Traffic diversion was also introduced on the Booty More-Kokar-Kantatoli stretch, which is part of the Ranchi-Hazaribagh leg of NH-33 and one of the busiest arteries in the city, to pave way for the construction.
The Ranchi MP also raised the issue of traffic congestion in the area due to construction of project. Due to construction of flyover, all four roads passing through the roundabout witnessed heavy traffic jam and the commuters passing on the stretch had to face difficulties.
The Ranchi MP said that till the construction of flyover is completed additional traffic personnel should be deployed in the area to ease out traffic congestion. Due to construction of flyover, traffic snarls have become a common thing here. As people have no other alternative route, the commuters have to take bumpy rides on the road dotted with craters. The `37-crore flyover foundation was laid by President Ram Nath Kovind on November 15, 2017.
