Trees personified in Palamu as a part of boosting BBBP ( Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao) campaign as trees were named after girl’s names here.
Tree which has been equaled to ‘son’ in many of forest department’s often quoted slogan like ‘Ek vriksh ek putr samaan’ (one tree is like a son) has been adorned with girls’ names here in Palamu taking a total 360 degree reversal all for promotion of the cause of the girl child under the aegis of BBBP.
On January 23 four saplings were planted on the premise of the Palamu collectorate where two of the four saplings so planted were christened on girl’s names.
DC Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari said, “We did four plantations on Wednesday evening on our compound. We named one sapling as Laxmi the other as Saraswati while the remaining two were named as Sukanya and Smridhi.”
The DC said, “Let me tell the truth the idea to name the saplings after girls’ names was in fact floated by a scribe of a vernacular daily and our team led by me out for this plantation lapped up the idea but I decided that Sukanya and Samridhi names too would do good and so we gave these names along with Laxmi and Saraswati to our saplings.”
“We believe as our saplings will grow our girls will also grow up and will do all that they can for the society.”
The 4 saplings were planted one each by Agrahari, DDC BMP Singh, NEP Director H Ali and DSWO S Kumar.
