The affluent and opulent persons also try hard to get ration cards in Palamu. It was detected when a list of 1,69, 932 for new ration cards was sent on DSO Login after approving it at BSO login. Block supply officers (BSO) have sent this list to DSO (district supply officer) after their due recommendation for issuance of ration cards.
Sources said for Golden Cards under Ayushman Bharat 5 lakh worth free medical treatment a ration card is the first mandatory requirement and this makes the rich and the affordable people also to go after the ration cards and thus indulge in a crime against alleviation of poverty and treatment of hunger.
DSO Amit Prakash said the Golden Cards has aggravated the rush for ration cards and a large number of families which can buy their food for their whole family for a year in one go are also craving for ration cards which is too sad and unfortunate. The DSO said, “Our block level food and civil supplies officials just do not apply their mind nor do they work or survey any sincerely and just login the requests of the new ration card seekers to us to remain in their good books.”
Amit (known by his first name more) confirming this said, “These block level food & civil supplies officials just pass on the bucks on us in a brazen act of irresponsibility, which makes them popular in the eyes of the ration card seekers temporarily little knowing that these officials have shown them big dream at an inopportune time.” Amit said that those who do not get ration cards for months again start cursing the same BSO whom they had admired in a big way in the past.
Amit said that this habit and practice of block level food and civil supplies officials need to be curbed and mended too as what happens once recommendations for such a huge list of 1,69, 932 new seekers of ration cards is sent to us the seekers’ hope to get ration cards rises multifold and when it does not come materializing then resentment erupts among the new ration card seekers.
There are only 13, 254 vacancies till 18. 9. 2019. Explaining vacancies Amit said one vacancy means one unit only and here there are 1,69, 932 units trying to get ration cards. The restlessness is bound to occur he conceded. Can this gap between 1,69, 932 and 13, 254 be card filled with ration cards soon? Stung by this huge demand DC Palamu Shantanu K Agrahari issued a letter to all block development officers & block supply officers of this district on September 18 to again go for a sincere and objective assessment and scrutiny of new ration card seekers.
The DC has asked for listing of only most needy, genuine and priority looking cases to be logged in for issuance of ration cards in the back drop of the existing vacancies of 13,254 units. Amit said the needy, genuine and priority ones are widows, single man/woman, critically sick person, destitute, member of primitive tribe group, member of scheduled caste or scheduled tribe etc. The DSO said more than a dozen rich people who managed to procure ration cards surreptitiously and subsequently lifted rations for months together are now paying the amount of the ration that they had so consumed by fraudulence. DSO’s office showed a paper in which one such defaulter ration card holder Phoolmati Devi returned a sum of rupees 15,168 for the government ration that she or her family consumed from August 2015 to March 2018 @ of 5 Kg per unit.
This woman had 3 units and consumed government rice valued at 31.60 rupees per Kg read the official letter that the Pioneer accessed and perused. Defaulter ration card holders surrender their cards which are on the spot frozen.
