Even as people in Dehradun experienced a drop in temperature following light rain on Monday night and Tuesday, the State Meteorological Department has forecast similar weather conditions on Wednesday. Rain/thunder showers accompanied with hail is forecast to occur in some areas of Dehradun today whereas heavy snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places in higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts.
According to the State Meteorological Centre, hail is likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital, Tehri, Pauri and Haridwar districts of Uttarakhand.
A drop in maximum and minimum temperatures is predicted in State’s provisional Capital which are likely to be around 23 degree Celsius and 12 degree Celsius respectively on Wednesday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Tuesday were 25 degree Celsius and 12.5 degree Celsius respectively.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at many places in Uttarakhand while snowfall may occur at isolated places at altitude of 3,000 metres and above. The sky will remain partly cloudy in the State today.
With the drop in maximum temperature from 26.8 degree Celsius on Monday to 25 degree Celsius on Tuesday, people of Dehradun witnessed a keen nip in the air. Some areas witnessed light rain showers as well.
Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at various places in the state on Tuesday were 28 degree Celsius and 11.9 degree Celsius respectively in Pantnagar, 15 degree Celsius and 6.8 degree Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15 degree Celsius and 8.4 degree Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
