India successfully test-fired a Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur here on Monday.
The indigenously-developed surface-to-air missile was tested at around 11.48 am.
Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the QRSAM has a strike range of 25 km to 30 km with a capability of engaging multiple targets. This air defence system has been developed for the Indian Army. The QRSAM is an all-weather, all-terrain missile with electronic counter measures against jamming by aircraft radars.
This was the third test of the missile this month, the other tests being conducted on December 19 and 20. Earlier, the missile had also been tested successfully from Chandipur on February 26 and August 4 this year. The missile was first test-fired on June 4, 2017 and the second test was conducted, also successfully, on July 3, 2017.
